The four astronauts of NASA’s historic Artemis II mission have arrived in Florida, days ahead of their planned launch that will send them around the moon and deeper into space than any humans have gone before.

The four astronauts selected for NASA's Artemis ⁠II ⁠mission were due to arrive in Florida on ⁠Friday, entering the final phase of preparations for the first crewed journey toward the Moon in ​more than five decades.

It's the dawn of a new lunar era for NASA, with the four-person Artemis II crew arriving Friday afternoon at Florida's Kennedy Space Center after spending two weeks quarantining in Houston. CBS News space contributor Christian Davenport joins "The Takeout" to preview the mission.
